The DM Champ Migration Playbook from ManyChat

DM Champ is the AI sales agent that replaces ManyChat's rule-based flows with a conversational AI that handles real sales. Plans start at $27 a month. This playbook walks through migrating from ManyChat to DM Champ: exporting contacts, mapping flows to AI behaviour, importing leads, and switching channels without losing the existing pipeline.

Step-by-step methodology you can run today. Audience: ManyChat users (agencies and brands) frustrated with flow-based limitations.

Why Most ManyChat Users Hit a Ceiling

ManyChat works fine for simple flows. Welcome message, drip sequence, basic if-this-then-that.

It breaks at three points.

One, real conversations. The moment a lead asks something the flow did not anticipate ("can you ship to Canada", "is this safe for sensitive skin", "do you have a payment plan"), the bot dead-ends. Lead drops out.

Two, high-ticket sales. Flows cannot triage a $10K lead, send 3 receipts, handle objections, and close. They can ask one question and move forward. They cannot have a conversation.

Three, multi-channel. ManyChat is Instagram and Facebook first. WhatsApp support exists but is shallow. SMS is bolted on. Web chat is separate. The inbox is fragmented.

Most brands outgrow ManyChat at $5K MRR. The fix is to switch to an AI sales agent that has actual conversations, not scripted flows.

DM Champ is that switch. This is how to migrate without losing leads.

The Migration Playbook in 5 Steps

Step 1: Audit Your Existing ManyChat Setup

Before you migrate anything, document what you have.

Inside ManyChat, list:

  • Active flows (welcome, comment growth tool, drip, broadcast)
  • Subscriber count
  • Tags in use
  • Custom fields
  • Integrations (Calendly, Stripe, Klaviyo, etc.)
  • Channels active (Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, SMS)
  • Last 30 days of traffic per channel

You do not need to migrate everything. You need to know what is worth migrating.

Common audit findings:

  • 80% of flows are dead (built and never refined)
  • 20% of flows drive 100% of revenue
  • Custom fields are usually 3 to 5 that actually matter (name, email, last action)

Spend 30 minutes on the audit. Save 4 hours on migration.

Step 2: Export Subscribers and Conversation History

ManyChat allows CSV export of subscriber data. Export everything.

Inside ManyChat > Audience > Export:

  • Pick all subscribers
  • Include tags, custom fields, last interaction date
  • Download CSV

You will get a file with first name, last name, channel, opt-in status, tags, custom fields, last seen.

For high-volume accounts: the export is capped per request. You may need to filter by tag or last-seen date and run multiple exports.

Conversation history export is more limited. ManyChat does not export full conversation transcripts. Workaround: screenshot or copy the top 50 active conversations manually before switching channels. These are the leads you do not want to lose context on.

For full conversation history, an API export script is available in the bonus takeaway. It uses the ManyChat API to pull recent messages per subscriber. Requires API access (Pro plan in ManyChat).

Step 3: Set Up DM Champ With Equivalent Flows

Open DM Champ. Run the onboarding.

The big shift: you do not rebuild flows. You give the AI context.

Paste your website. The AI reads products, prices, FAQs.

Then add:

  • The top 3 services or products with prices (replaces ManyChat's product flow)
  • The top 5 customer questions (replaces ManyChat's FAQ flow)
  • The top 3 objections (replaces ManyChat's objection branches)
  • Your calendar link (replaces ManyChat's booking integration)
  • Your Stripe payment links (replaces ManyChat's payment flow)

Each ManyChat flow maps to context the AI now uses. The 20% of flows that drove revenue become 4 to 8 system prompt additions.

Time: 30 to 60 minutes for a typical brand.

The AI now does what 20 ManyChat flows used to do, plus everything in between.

Step 4: Migrate Channels Without Losing the Audience

This is the risky step. Done wrong, you lose channel access during the switch.

Order matters:

Day 0 (preparation):

  • Have DM Champ ready, configured, tested
  • Have ManyChat still live
  • Run a parallel test (DM Champ on a test Instagram or web chat)

Day 1 (switch Instagram):

  • Inside Meta Business Suite, revoke ManyChat's permissions
  • Inside DM Champ, connect Instagram
  • Test a real message from your own account to confirm AI is replying
  • Update the comment-to-DM keywords in DM Champ to match what ManyChat had

Day 1 (switch web chat):

  • Remove the ManyChat script tag from your website
  • Paste in the DM Champ script tag
  • Refresh, test

Day 2 (switch WhatsApp):

  • WhatsApp requires Meta business verification. If you were on ManyChat with WhatsApp API, the number can be ported to DM Champ.
  • Submit the port request through Meta
  • During the 24 to 72 hour port window, route inbound WhatsApp manually
  • Once port is live, DM Champ takes over

Day 3 (switch Facebook):

  • Same as Instagram. Revoke ManyChat permissions, connect DM Champ.

Day 4 (switch SMS):

  • If you were on Twilio, swap the webhook URL from ManyChat to DM Champ
  • Test
  • Done

No subscribers are lost. Comment-to-DM keywords transfer once you recreate them in DM Champ.

Step 5: Import Subscribers and Resume Campaigns

Inside DM Champ, go to Contacts > Import.

Upload the CSV you exported from ManyChat in Step 2.

Map columns:

  • ManyChat "first_name" -> DM Champ "first_name"
  • ManyChat "Instagram_id" -> DM Champ "instagram_handle"
  • ManyChat "tags" -> DM Champ "tags"
  • ManyChat custom fields -> DM Champ custom attributes

Confirm. Import runs. Subscribers land in DM Champ with their tags and custom fields preserved.

Restart broadcasts and campaigns:

  • Recreate the 2 to 3 broadcast campaigns that drove revenue in ManyChat
  • The AI now handles replies instead of routing through flows
  • Run a test broadcast to 20 contacts first
  • Then broadcast at full volume once you confirm replies are clean

End-to-end migration time: 1 day of prep, 3 to 4 days of channel-by-channel switching, 1 day of import and broadcast restart. Less than a week.

The Math

Comparison after migration:

MetricManyChatDM Champ
Monthly cost (typical)$145 (Pro)$97 (Growth) or $297 (Pro)
Flow build time per use case1 to 4 hours0 (AI handles it)
Channels in one inbox3 (limited)5 (full)
Real conversation handlingNoYes
White-label for agenciesNoYes (Agency tier $497)
BYOK (own Anthropic key)NoYes (Pro/Agency)
Sub-accounts for clientsNoYes (50 on Agency)

For an agency with 10 clients on ManyChat:

  • ManyChat cost: $145 per client = $1,450 a month
  • DM Champ Agency: $497 a month total, includes unlimited sub-accounts
  • Savings: $953 a month, $11,436 a year

Plus, the AI converts higher. Compare what a rule-based flow does (drops the lead the moment they ask an off-script question) to what an AI sales agent does (triages, sends receipts, handles objections, books the call). The conversion gap on high-ticket niches is significant. FueGenix went from $5M to $10M in 12 months with the AI sales agent that became DM Champ.

What This Looks Like When DM Champ Runs It

The manual version of migration is risk-managed channel swaps, careful exports, manual conversation context rebuilding. Doable, but stressful.

When DM Champ runs it, the AI handles all the post-migration conversations from day one. You give it your website. It builds itself. Subscribers import with one CSV. Channels connect through the standard onboarding. The flow logic that used to live in ManyChat now lives as plain-English context.

The features that make this work: native channel connections (Instagram, WhatsApp API, Facebook, web chat, SMS), the AI sales agent that handles real conversations, contact import via CSV, conversation memory across channels, the campaigns engine for broadcasts, the multi-channel inbox.

If you want to skip the manual work, the Growth $97 tier covers most single-brand migrations. The Pro $297 tier adds BYOK and higher volume. The Agency $497 tier replaces a 10-client ManyChat agency stack. See /for-agencies/.
